About the Exhibition

“Home” should be a place where can accommodate the private inner world of every individual. We sincerely invite 28 artists from different cities to participate in this exhibition. They will present their artworks in their “home” based on their personal feelings, deep thinking or institutions. This exhibition intends to explore how artists get rid of various external restrictions to honestly face their inner self, and then by observing their own works they have a candid conversation with the outside world in different ways.

In this exhibition, “Homehas two definitions. One is a place where artists physically exist and where you can find clues of their social and cultural background. The other one is a place where artists can open up their internal world and have a private conversation with themselves sincerely.
Likewise, there are two kinds of viewers in this exhibition. One is artists themselves. Will they think of the definition of freedom in their art making process, and review their artworks as if they are a third party? The other one is real viewers. Will they have deeper understanding of these artworks through the artistsexhibition places, voices and words?
The Internet is a flexible medium for communication and a place full of possibilities for arts creation. Sans has done a fantastic design to combine the artworks, voices and words of 28 artists together and bring out the unique characteristics of artists from different cities.
Home is an exhibition space. This idea comes from an imagination: Why do artists continue making artworks when there are so many limitations of the reality and peoples mind? What do their artworks represent? In the end, if they have nothing at all, how do they communicate with this world? One thing comes up in my mind: Home is an exhibition space.

About Banshichu

Banshichu is an independent non-profit arts organization. It was founded in Beijing in 2014 by artists Song Xi and Yang Xinjia. The organization has started a series of projects by lending out spaces. It is an art space of creativity. BANSHICHU (The Office) was created based on our understanding of space and attitude towards art.   Space is not only a white box with display function, neither an architectural physical form. Space is a relationship between things, a structural existence, a gap between determinate forms, systems, and regulations, and also those undefined, uncertain states.  Therefore, a space is a possibility.   BANSHICHU (The office) is an entity which is not limited to objects displaying or occurrence of art, but a comprehensive space exists in fields of minds, edges of regulations, fields in the society, buildings of varies functions etc., in the form of borrowing
